Floodwise Communities
Adaptation International is currently leading community engagement, workshop development, and technical training as partners of the National Academy of Sciences-funded FloodWise Communities project, which aims to increase access to vulnerability assessment planning assistance for small and medium communities in the US. With a focus on storms, floods, and sea-level rise, AI will work with 60 communities across the Gulf Coast Region to assess weather and climate-related vulnerabilities of their local stormwater system infrastructure. This includes co-developing a guided, online vulnerability assessment tool, leading tailored community work-shops, providing advisory services, and evaluating the success of each engagement. Adaptation International is working in partnership GLISA, SCIPP, Stanford University, and Headwaters Economics, and FloodWise Communities is endorsed by National League of Cities, National Association of Counties, National Association of Development Organizations, and Texas SeaGrant.
